24 is quickly becoming one of those shows I can't concentrate on the first time I watch it. I think it's because there is SO much going on - even when you try to just pay attention to one plot line the others keep clamoring for attention. Also, this is one of the eps where not all that much happened, except the ending which literally made me scream.
I like the fact that the "previouslys" just refer to Michelle/Tony and the rest of the gang as "Counter Terrorist Unit".
***** Oh, Kim, this is the worst possible time to tell your dad about your new boyfriend. And his face? That 'I've been so out of it with drugs these past three months I somehow didn't notice' look? ACK, heartbreaking. Still, I think there's a reason that she totally needs to tell him -- and this is just random speculation.
I think Kim's pregnant. I base this on a) their 'getting serious' thing. b) the way she touched her stomach after Chase left with Jack. and c) her conversation in the bathroom with Michelle.
The important part about the conversation is that she doesn't ask Michelle what it's like to work with a boyfriend or someone you're seeing - she specifically asks husband. And then there's that moment that Kim looks in the mirror and touches her hair. That would explain why she brought up the need to tell her dad and why it had to be soon regardless of the situation.
I also found the conversation between Kim and Chase and the 'I love yous' very sweet.

I love how there's this HUGE bioterrorist threat but these interpersonal issues just won't go away. The scene in the car with Jack and Chase? Another heartbreaking moment. I wonder if heroinwithdrawl makes someone more emotionally open. When Jack tells Chase about how the job has ruined every relationship he ever had...so SAD. But he's basically telling him be a hermit and break off all romantic ties with anyone. Then again, considering his track record, maybe he has a point.
It sort of reminds me of WAY back in the day of XF, and conversations I had with people about how the characters on the show couldn't get together or have any other relationships because of this giant looming threat and the work. Well, in Jack's case, work pretty much follows him home, knocks on the door, comes in for a beer and then never leaves. Although, he's not a typical field agent either.
I loved how at the end he tells Chase he has to keep him out of harm's way now. Just this really nice moment where it's obvious that he's sort of lumped Kim and Chase together as people to protect. Of course, that isn't the way to treat a partner, obviously. But, Chase did ask for it, dating Kim and all. I'm sure that if there wasn't this huge Bioterror threat, Chase's next big assignment would be color coding files.
*****
Every time they showed Tony and Michelle together I wanted to scream 'talk about something other than the bioterror threat!' - that could be cause they're married and if we don't get some kissing action soon, well I won't be happy.
Poor Tony, he's surrounded by neurotics. How exactly did Chloe get to be in this kind of work? And why would she be put as Jack's personal analyst? Is that a joke from division, to see how long it'll take one of them to snap?
Oh, mention of Division tonight! I was beginning to wonder if it still existed.
I'm warming up to Salazar as a villian and I like that his interactions with people back up what Jack said about him having no weaknesses. It took me a second time to realize that Salazar was threatening Luis' family, not referring to a crime already committed.
24 is brought to you by -- choking - the preferred method for interrogations everywhere! The tag team moment with Jack and Chase trying to get that Zach guy to talk - that was very disturbing. And very slashy.
****
Pulling a Sherry - I LOVE that line. I'm not trusting Wayne though, at all. I LOVE Palmer's reaction to anything that might be slightly not on the up and up - he's like immediately all over it having to know exactly what's happening. "I can walk and chew gum at the same time" Yes, yes you can!
That's a very nice example of character development too -- he went from someone who was basically kept in the dark about everything in S1 to someone who has to know every little thing going on.
Palmer/Anne -- SO CUTE. I hope she doesn't betray him or work for another side. When he asked her about type threewhatevers I got this REALLY strange Scully flashback. It could just be a character knowing random things about medicine - lol. I hope she's not evil.
Oh, that also reminds me. The odd thing about Hector's call to that guy? The mention of the debate. Why would it be important to cancel the debate, how does that have anything to do with Salazar's release???
I kept hoping that Palmer would ask who was in charge of the investigation *giggle*
Okay, maybe I'm an idiot but I didn't see that twist coming at the end at ALL. I knew there was a mole, but I thought it was a mole leaking info to this guy, now the guy himself! When he switched all the screens to 'CTU' I thought "Oh my god, he can see what's going on, he has a connection!"
Then when he pressed the button and opened the doors and I was like heeeey...that looks REALLY familiar...and it was CTU, well, I was shocked. I screamed. I was like "He works at CTU!"
And he has to meet Chloe in the IT room - hmmm she's probably evil too. Nothing good has ever come of meetings in IT rooms at CTU.

Date: 2003-11-05 05:21 am (UTC)Your Kim is Preggo theory is interesting, but I really hope she's not. Jack as a grandpa though? Too cute. :) But, I have to say, how much Jack loves Kim makes my all teary. It's obvious he loves her more than anything in this world and would do ANYTHING to make her happy, including sidelining his partner or whatever. Even if she is a selfish little bitz, he would still give her the world. *sniffle*
And yeah, this season is already much more reminding me of S1 with all the intrapersonal relationships amid the crisis, which is so good. Jack and Chase's scene in the car was awesome.
Chloe went way down on the awesome-scale with her "don't yell at me." Uh, what? I was all respecting her for standing up to Jack and now... meh. Get over yourself, Chloe. I hope she's evil.
Oh and the Salazar interragation scene was awesome. I was convinced that Salazar was going to have a heart attack or something and die when they hit him.... but maybe they're saving the "We killed the guy who's supposed to be released" card for later. Luis is... there. I hope he either joins the death pool or does something interesting soon.
I felt the Anne channeling Scully vibe too, which makes me hope she's totally not betraying Palmer, and the thing she hasn't told Palmer is like "I smoked weed in college" or something stupid like that.
Oh and I LOVED how they flipped to scenes inside CTU and so you're thinking "OMG! There's a mole!" then he walks out and you go "OMG!!!! HE'S THE MOLE!!!" I was clapping and squealing... hehe.
We so need to get together at some point to watch an episode. :D

Date: 2003-11-05 06:07 am (UTC)I didn't even think that Salazar might die! It didn't even occur to me, but wouldn't that suck? it would also be so very 24.
If any place needed employee counseling it's CTU.
Luis is like Chilton in Silence of the Lambs. Salazar's his Hannibal ;)
I just rewatched the ep -- yet again. Chase is so petulant during the conversation in the car. I just love that they're supposed to be figuring out you know, stuff and all they're doing? Debating about Kim.
That totally reminds me, I just realized, if Gael is working with the Salazars and Jack's the one who put him away...eeep...run Kim run FAR FAR away.
