(warning rant ahead, and you know my rants...)

Just one thing -- how did X-Files not make the list? I have to wonder about this, because, granted right now it's nowhere in pop culture but a few years ago? You couldn't swing a dead alien without finding an X-Files reference. It certainly seems to have all the attributes of pop icon necessity. Halloween costume? Check. . Name recognition? Check....etc, etc. I mean, doesn't anyone remember when Mulder and Scully and X-Files were the shorthand for unexplained events or conspiracy theories?

But now, it's pretty much forgotten, a distant memory replaced with whatever else is huge. I mean, it's like friends you had from it, friends you used to be so close to somehow you just don't really talk to anyone because they moved on or you did, or some mixture of the two.

I'm embarassed to admit that I haven't seen an episode in months, but it doesn't mean I've forgotten the influence and the love. So many things are ripoffs, so much influence.

I love how some shows have taken the influence and run with it, brought to other levels...but then there are movies that just...I can't even explain it.

I just want to say that not including X-Files and the characters on a list of top icons of all time is just beyond belief. Especially considering some of the other people who got on the list.

I'm feeling slightly nostalgic right now because I found my pictures from the AOL X-Files con of 1998 and from Mardi Gras 1999. Mardi Gras was fun, especially getting to talk fic with my then cowriter and good friend. People looked at us oddly - lol.

Hope everyone has a good night!

I stopped reading most of the list after I heard the name Britney.

So wow, I just assumed XF would be on there somewhere!

(Your icon is perfect, btw. My feelings exactly, LOL!)

Dude, that was only the first 20 or so. They do 20 a night, Friday is the last show day.

Settle dear, XF still has a chance to break through. ^_^

I so silly...

Ahhh, nevermind. No sleep and no sleep make me something something... I'm surprised XF didn't make it! Is there any Alien luv out there? Shout out to Alf? ET? That chick from Out of This World who could make time freeze with her fingers put together?

In response to the everpresent Dat issue, my theory is: CRACK, AND PEOPLE SMOKING IT.

Bad crack, at that. I mean, if you're gonna smoke crack, you should get the good stuff, not that shit that your cousin with the one eye gets from his friend who works out of the back of his van. That's the shit you gotta look out for.

^_^

When I saw the commercials for that, I too thought XF *should* make it, but somehow sensed that it would get left out.
But ditto on the forgotten-fandom rant. I mean, you do occasionally see XF bits pop up (found M&S in the "1776 Reasons to Love the US" book ; ) ...and the hideous B movies, but we'll leave those out) but overall, its like we've been dropped like a stone into the river of Pop Culture and washed away. And yet... we're still somewhere. Hightly irritating. Because I too can rarely catch reruns these days, but I still remember...

[brit accent] "But I'm not dead yet!"

Heh, if it makes you feel any better, the other day I found a tape of mine with the TVG top 50 shows of all time special on it--We still got #37 on that! (And those above us at least deserved it.)
