Manipulation thy name is Dawson's Creek
May. 14th, 2003 11:30 pmI think that's the saddest thing I've ever seen as a finale. My sister, mom, and I were sitting on the couch and just...sobbing at parts. I knew it was manipulation, I mean, to take a character and have them die VERY slowly with recording of message to daughter and all, but fuck it, it was so sad. I don't know WHY they had to kill someone really, and it was all very meta too - perhaps a little too meta. When Jen said that she never really fit in, I just - ugh - my heart broke for her. So sad. Evil evil writers. I think it was the most evil thing I've ever seen a finale do -- just totally crush me. Like, it didn't even matter the happy moments in the finale itself, and there were some, because the death was so tragic and depressing. Funniest part of the finale was seeing the non-gay gay kissing - lol. Least comfortable looking kisses ever. Like, I'm supposed to believe that he's in love with this man...not with that kiss! Anyway. Evil writers. EVIL writers. When I produce a show, I'm gonna make sure that the writer doesn't crush the audience's hearts with the final episode, promise.
Maybe a little crushing - but no long drawn out death scenes. Just quick ones, with lots of bullets.
