A few random fannish thoughts

Things I don't get:

Snape-love. I don't get it. I find him slightly interesting as a character but he exudes zero sex appeal for me. I just don't get anything out of Snape slash, it really does almost nothing for me. Really Snape/anyone is kind of turn-off. Especially when the anyone is underaged *shudder*. Maybe it's the greasy hair description, but something about him just doesn't do it for me. I'm currently looking for some good James/Sirius. Actually, any good Potter fic rec would be appreciated, I've found a lot of really horrible stuff.

Alias. I know that everyone and their mother adores it, but I couldn't even get through one episode. I tried to watch it when XF ended, but it still didn't really do anything for me. I also don't like Jennifer Gardner (blasphemy I know). I wasn't impressed with her on Felicity and seeing her on Alias didn't impress me either.

Why there isn't more 24 fic. It seems like a show that, at least in its off-season would lend itself nicely to fic. Yet, there's not much of it at all. Everyone should write 24 fic, and anyone to write me a Jack/Scully fic will make me deliriously happy.

Movie of the Week Mary Sue Fics. It used to be that a fandom had to actually exist for people to write fic, now they just see a movie and a few moments later..there's hundreds of fics about the film, most of them not very good and a lot of them kind of wish fulfillment stories. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think that every film needs fic to go along with it -- some are just perfectly formed on their own.

It might say something about modern culture that we need to write smut stories to go along with films that do not contain enough sex.

Watched the E! True Hollywood Story of "Real World" - very amusing, especially when it was revealed that someone from the first season had slept with a cameraman. Yesterday I saw something like "Miss America" uncovered, and learned that women in the competition actually glue their bathing suits to their backsides so that they don't have anything...riding up while they walk. You learn something new every day - hee.
