Sunday Night Television
Feb. 3rd, 2003 04:26 amDragnet. That rocked. Why is that only a few good shows are on tv each week and TPTB insist on putting them up against each other? It's a mystery. Really. Ethan Embry is so cute. I've had a slight crush on him since 'Can't Hardly Wait' -- one of the best teen movies, imho. Freaky storyline too. Fulfills my "atmospheric drama" requirements. Plus, pretty well acted and a pilot that really didn't pull any punches. I think I'm gonna watch it next week. That said...it was on opposite my other must-see show -- The Dead Zone.
If Dragnet fulfills my need for atmosphere and law enforcement, Dead Zone gives me my RDA of strangeness, mystery solving and paranormal-like activity. Tonight's episode was really interesting. I like how everything comes together. The freakiest part was the very beginning. Anyway, it's on USA if someone hasn't seen it and really has some interesting stuff going on. Who knew Anthony Michael Hall could act? Plus, very very tiny X-Files ref! Which made me happy.
Just read an interesting fic that was inspired by Atwood's "Handmaid's Tale" it's by a fairly new XF fic writer, on ephemeral and atxc and called "Lo and Beholden". It's the first story in several months to make me literally cry.
I also saw my guilty pleasure movie "One Fine Day". It's one of those movies that grows on you. When it's on I can't turn it off.
Finally, my thoughts and hopes are with the families of those poor seven people. The search for the wreckage is just disturbing.
