I'm not sure where this came from either.
Original Fic

Following a Pattern

The word is: Obsession

Everything had to be neat and orderly. She wasn't sure when the actual world began to slip away and be replaced with insignficances.

"1, 2, 3" she counted as she placed the dominos down on the floor, her fingers shaking slightly because the surface was uneven and a moment of hesitation could bring it all down.

The latest piece in a long line, the patterns so intricate that they almost made her weep.

She reached for another one, placing it next to its siblings gently, counting "4, 5, 6." But there were more than six down on the ground and her knees were starting to ache.

Maggie looked over at the paper pinned to the wall. His notes were still visible and she would finish this, she had to.

"7, 8, 9" she whispered as she finished the row and sat back to admire her handiwork.

The video camera was in place above her, taped to the chandelier with duct tape because she didn't care about marks.

"10, 11, 12," she continued as she started another row, her hair obscuring her vision as she reached for more dominos, feeling them in her hand like his caress.

He didn't ask her to finish it. She found the plans near his body and although the blood covered some of the more difficult curves, she was sure she could follow them.

"You're going to be in that book of records if it's the last thing I do," she muttered crawling backwards.

Small black and white pieces covered the living room, the dining room, the kitchen, followed up the stairs, back down the stairs, onto the patio...and it wasn't even close to complete.

Wow.

....powerful.

I read the whole thing twice before I looked at the word itself. And when I did...that sealed it. Very very nice.

Ok, that freaked me out. Not sure exactly what went on but... I think... yes. I'm definitely freaked out.

If that was your intent, you did a great job.

First I thought: 'No 24? Meh.' But then I read it anyway. It's very good. Wow. It gives you a very frightened feeling. But I'm no person for short stories like that. Now I'm running around trying to figure it out. What happened. Who is he. Who is she. How did he die? Did she murder him? Someone else? Will she finish it?

Can someone please stop my mind? ;)

Your 15 minute ficlets. Are great. Keep writing them!

Very cool. In an obssessive compulsive kind of way.
